While the rest of the world closed in on itself at the start of the pandemic, Dr. Elizabeth’s pediatrician office made a valiant effort to stay open in some capacity to continue caring for its patients. While uncertainty spun webs of misinformation, particularly concerning how COVID-19 could affect children, her office chose not to close. Balancing her patients’ needs, staff’s safety, and even taking on sick adults from the nearby hospital’s overflow, Elizabeth’s story is a reminder that life did not stop for plenty of healthcare workers, especially those who work in general care. Elizabeth speaks to the constant battle of confidence she had in herself as a healthcare professional and a mother. And the war still left to fight for our children who seemingly have lost a year of their life.
